The ESO-VLT MIKiS Survey Reloaded: Velocity Dispersion Profile and Rotation Curve of NGC 1904*

چکیده

We present an investigation of the internal kinematic properties M79 (NGC 1904). Our study is based on radial velocity measurements obtained from ESO-VLT Multi-Instrument Kinematic Survey (MIKiS) Galactic globular clusters for more than 1700 individual stars distributed between $\sim 0.3^{\prime\prime}$ and $770^{\prime\prime}$ ($\sim14$ three-dimensional half-mass radii), center. analysis reveals presence ordered line-of-sight rotation with a axis almost aligned along East-West direction peak $1.5$ km s$^{-1}$ at 70^{\prime\prime}$ axis. The dispersion profile well described by same King model that best fits projected density distribution, constant central plateau $\sigma_0\sim 6$ s$^{-1}$. To investigate cluster in plane sky, we have analyzed proper motions provided Gaia EDR3, finding signature maximum amplitude 2.0$ 80^{\prime\prime}$ Analyzing sub-sample 130 stars, confirm systemic find inclination angle $37${\deg} respect to line-of-sight. As final result, comparison observed curves results representative N-body simulation rotating star shows present-day NGC 1904 are consistent those dynamically old system has lost significant fraction its initial angular momentum.

ESO Imaging Survey: Finding Targets for VLT

Data from the wide-angle, moderately deep ESO Imaging Survey have been used to produce target lists for the first year of the VLT. About 250 candidate clusters of galaxies have been identified from the I−band images covering ∼ 17 square degrees. In addition, using the multicolor data available over an area of 1.3 square degrees over 300 potentially interesting point-sources have been selected. ...

Rotation Velocities of Hot Horizontal Branch Stars in the Globular Clusters Ngc 1904, Ngc 2808, Ngc 6093, and Ngc 7078: the Database

We present radial and rotation (vsini) velocity measurements, from UVES+VLT high resolution spectra of 61 stars in the blue horizontal branches (HB) of the Galactic globular clusters NGC 1904 (M79), NGC 2808, NGC 6093 (M80), and NGC 7078 (M15). The data reduction and the velocity determination, based on cross-correlation techniques, are discussed in detail. Most of this database has been used b...

The VLT - FLAMES Survey of Massive Stars : Stellar parameters and rotational velocities in NGC 3293 , NGC 4755 and NGC 6611

An analysis is presented of VLT-FLAMES spectroscopy for three Galactic clusters, NGC 3293, NGC 4755 and NGC 6611. Non-LTE model atmosphere calculations have been used to estimate effective temperatures (from either the helium spectrum or the silicon ionization equilibrium) and gravities (from the hydrogen spectrum). Projected rotational velocities have been deduced from the helium spectrum (for...
